WHO WE ARE
Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency is a member of a nationwide network of 1,100 Community Action Agencies. We are a non-profit agency that serves six counties in central Oklahoma including: Cleveland, Lincoln, Logan, Payne, Pottawatomie, and Seminole. The community action movement dates back to 1964 as part of the federal Economic Opportunity Act during President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. Community Action Agencies are locally managed with a volunteer board of directors that include low-income individuals, public officials, and representatives from the community sector.
WHAT WE DO
Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency helps low-income individuals and families avoid crisis situations. We assist in first meeting emergency needs, and then follow-up in helping individuals and families gain self-sufficiency through supportive case management and partnerships with other social services providers in the area. COCAA’s goal is to help people, change lives, and build communities. Community Action cares about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Community Action Agencies are not government agencies. To be able to provide services, they instead rely on donations from the general public and on program-specific restricted grants obtained through private foundations, state governments, and the federal government. Your gift to Payne County COCAA helps low-income individuals and families in Payne County by providing vital services in times of need.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
Payne County COCAA partners with the Stillwater Junior Service League and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore to help provide Payne County families with Christmas gift assistance. Operation Christmas is for low-income families with children ages 0-18. All applications for the program are processed at COCAA during October & November. The program requires parents/guardians to complete community service hours in exchange for shopping at the Operation Christmas Store in early December.
The Stillwater COCAA office is part of a non-profit organization that is highly dependent on volunteers. COCAA frequently has projects that are simply impossible to complete without the help of others. If you (or someone that you know) would like to volunteer or have community service hours that you need to complete, please call the COCAA office at (405) 624-2533 to find out if there are any volunteer opportunities available. COCAA greatly appreciates the selfless service of all volunteers!
